Historical/ Artistic Context
Ode to Joy:  Written in 1785 by the German poet, playwright and historian Friedrich Schiller6 It is best known for its musical setting by Ludwig Van Beethoven in the final movement of his Ninth Symphony.
Natural Music: Mixed music and natural sound together, the music is always light music and the natural sound is always pure and harmonic such as the sound of sea wave. It is a little different of light music. Light music is played by instrument, also called mood music because people will have some emotions when they are listening to the music.
New Age  music can let people imagine they are in the nature world, on the beach, in the forest or on the top of a mountain, and so on… people can hear the sound of wind or the sound of birds’ singing or the waves beat the beach… they will find a pure and quite world in the hustle and bustle city life, and feel so relax, because of that it is quite difficult for people to go into the nature to feel the real world.
Until 1990s, all genres of music have almost developed. People utilise music to express their moods and emotion more often. Music has become a part of human’s city life. The light music reached its boomed period in late 1990s. Contemporary, people needs something pure… put an example here, in 1990s,Chinese people began to like to travel to some places where have not been developed by human beings, like to listen to folk songs, we call that Original Ecology. As a result, some bands and records company began to product some light music including natural sound what can make people experience the rhythm of the nature, such as Bandari and Secret Garden. However, they all use music played by instrument as a main melody. Some parts or attached tracks are natural sound (Eg: The Wind of Change, Bandari).

This group of musician from Taiwan recognize the beauty of the nature sound, and decided to product some albums recorded the nature sound of nature places in Taiwan as main melody in late 1990s. They have mixed sound of ocean, springs, birds’ singing, insects’ crying or wind touches grass with some light music and light singing. People can imagine they are in different place in the nature world and feel so relax, keep far away from the chaos human society. In 2002, Jindai Wu and her group published an album called “Moonlight Festival”, recorded many sounds from wild lives in the forest at night, such as frogs and insects, and mixed with sound of instrument like piano and flute.

Key features:
This music named Ode to Joy by Frogs. Of course it is the famous music set by Beethoven. And sang by some species of frogs and insects! Different animals have different sounds, some have high tones, and others have low ones because of different frequencies.
This music is not just mixed the music and some nature sound, but choose different tones of nature sound to make a song and accompanied with musical instruments. It is more advanced than contemporary works and practice in material searching and technology.
In addition, producers always adapt the rhythm or change the musical instrument to make audience have different feelings. While, in this piece of music, listeners not only feel happy of the melody of the Ode to Joy, but also feel happy and excited when they found frogs are singing it! Maybe it can awaken the love of humans to the wild animals and the great nature.
Human beings get closer to the nature even they are in the hustle and bustle artificial society.

Influence/ significance
Light music is a genre between classical music and pop music, it is neither formal or noisy. Also it may not full of meaning and emotions. Light music can make a romantic or warm environment; it is full of entertainment and artistic.
Light music is easy to understand the mood, and can help people to justice their mood. So it is also call mood music. Nowadays, almost everywhere full of music: punk, rock and roll, hip-hop, pop music… people are tired to listen to these genres of music. Light music like a pure spring in humans’ busy life. The slow and quite melody makes people feel quite and relax. It is a good way to reduce their pressure.
After 1995, light music is quite common in anywhere even in some public areas, because managers want their customers or employees to feel relax and happy. As a result, people began to ignore it or reject it. Fewer people listen to it when they are alone. Then, another new kind of light music appeared -Nature Music.
Human beings found the significance of the nature and began to notice things in the nature, including some natural sound. They found that the original ones are the most gorgeous ones. Humans came from the nature and they should go back to the nature.
Just like the sound of walking, the sound of sea or wind is beautiful as well. Some musicians began to product the music mixed with some nature sound called New Age Music. People began to notice that and to find the quiet and pure area in their heart. It has been used in music therapy and meditation.
Human beings are always busy with their life and jobs, they forget to look and listen the sound from the great nature. They even forget to listen the singing of birds in the early morning. In Indian, there is a quote “Do not forget to stop and wait for your soul when you are in a hurry in your life.” This kind of music awakens people’s notice and mind of observe the environment around us and to find out something new and beautiful.
Above all these, this piece of music “ Ode to Joy by Frogs” let people feel quite happy and relax, at the same time, humans can aware that animals are good at singing and they know that the melody of nature is fantastic, even at night. Additionally, it is a crucial leak in the technology of producing music: finding out different tunes of frogs or insects crying and edit them into a song, mixed with sound of musical instrument. It must be a hard work, however, it is a vital step and creative idea in the music and sound field.
I also find a piece of song “sang” by many animals, the same music Ode to Joy. An unknown Chinese musician producer made it on the Internet as a ring for mobile phones. (Attached in this report)

Impacts on contemporary work, technology or practice:
In late 20c(around late 1970s), there is a new genre of music called New Age Music emerged. It came from light music but more pure and quiet. It is a creative composition in light music area.

This is another album has been published by Jindai Wu Group. All sounds from the ocean and islands.

Light music is always played by piano or violin, and adapt some famous music or traditional music. After that, some bands or musician represented the New Age Music began to use some natural sound in their works, such as Bandari and Secret Garden. These musicians walked into the nature and recorded nature sounds from rivers, lakes, winds, birds, insects, and so on. Then they mixed these sounds in their music to help people to imagine the nature in order to clean and pure humans’ heart and mind which have been blurred by the hustle and bustle city life. They use natural sound as background music in their works, just let people imagine that they are listening to the music in the mountain or on the beach.
Jindai Wu and her group recorded nature sound in Taiwan as well, however, they use the nature sound as the main melody in their music and the sound from instrument as background music. This creative work let people notice the group and the great nature- we have original and fantasy music when the world is here…
It is not only a New Age Music or light music, but also the beauty and splendid of the world. We owned beautiful sightseeing and sweet sound already, it is more wonderful and fantastic than any artificial music!
On contemporary work, it is no doubt a leap. People always focus on what they made or things in human beings’ world, they ignore the original things which has exist for billions of year in the nature world- they are the most gorgeous things on the earth.
This improvement of this piece of music Ode to Joy by Frogs is not only in the format and context, but also in the technology. Jindai Wu and her group did a lot of hard work to record sounds of many species of frogs, insects and animals which live at night, and depending on their frequencies and tones to make the melody of Ode to Joy, than created some music to respond the sound of animal, than mixed them together. Of course, it sounds like frogs are singing Ode to Joy!
